Empty

A simple image of a black line representing a straight water glass with the word EMPTY written at the bottom of it in black. Outside of the glass are different colour swirls, underneath and about half way up the sides of the glass.

I don’t remember when or why I created this piece! This is another example of an image that I like and hold onto, and wish I’d written something about it on the back. It was a quick piece, and I think it is quite likely that I was feeling tired, empty, with not a lot left to give. The picture suggests that my reflection was that what I need to fill myself with is around me, just waiting to be accessed. I like the simplicity of it, along with the different colours used in the swirls. It reminds me that even if I feel empty, it won’t last forever, there is hope and that I just need to take time out to refuel.

We all feel empty and worn out at times. Sometimes the solution can be simple - we just need time to rest, to do those things that re-energise us. If you don’t know what those things are, just consider what makes you feel good and it might give you a few ideas. Of course sometimes the solution is not simple - we have too many responsibilities, too much on our plate, and we can’t stop to refuel. If you’re in that situation, don’t be afraid to ask for help, and if you can, find small things that bring you joy and make you smile.
