I painted this bible journal page in 2019, but I first prayed with the scripture in 2014. It was given to me by my director of my first silent retreat. The passage describes a helpless and abandoned baby - which represents God’s people. God rescues this helpless baby and watches over its growth. It is this idea of helplessness that I have highlighted in this bible journal page. We can all feel helpless, and to this God says “Live!”. We can depend on God loving us.
Back in 2014, the verse that struck me was verse 7, which I quoted as “You became the most beautiful of jewels”. (I don’t know what version of the bible this is from.) I also began my first ever art journal on this retreat, and so the image below is the simple page I created at the time. This then went on to become the inspiration behind my Art Blessing ‘You are of great value’.
