Friendship with God 2

A silhouette of two figures sat on a bench, their backs to the viewer, painted on a yellow background. One of the figures wears a crown of thorns.

Back in 2021 I exhibited three paintings in a local exhibition. I created three paintings on the theme of Friendship with God. This is the second in a series of three blog posts on those paintings.

The second of my paintings was ‘The Ever Present Friend’ and is of a person sat on a bench with Jesus. The idea of sitting with Jesus on a bench is one I often use in prayer. I imagine meeting Jesus and sitting with him on a bench looking out over the sea. I either tell him what’s on my heart or just sit with him in silence. This painting is simply a representation of that, with Jesus wearing the crown of thorns as a way to identify him. The bible verse I paired with it is a reminder that Jesus said that he would always be with us. Jesus is ever present with us, the ever present friend, and all we need to do is turn to him in prayer.

Next week, I’ll share the third painting in the series.
