JOY!

A photo of a framed piece - the word JOY in large capitals made of gold gilding flakes, outlined in black fills the space, with the background made of different bright colours shining out from the centre of the piece, like rays of light.

I first painted this design when I was on a prophetic art retreat. The original didn’t have the gold lettering, just the black outline. Having liked what I created, I set about painting a slightly improved version, which includes the gold gilding flakes (first on paper, then on canvas board). Here’s what I wrote about the painting in my journal when I originally painted it on the retreat:

JOY - this was the first painting I was really pleased with. I began by asking God for the colour and where, and began with the yellow. As the piece came together, God spoke to me about the light that looks like it is being diffracted. God’s light brings joy. It brings all these different colours, for as light is diffracted, it is split into different colours. God’s light brings joy - what a message! I added the letters in pen later. It was scary to do, but I knew it was right to do it, and the joy I felt on standing back and observing my finished work confirmed that.” 6 June 17

There are three different ways you can own this piece of art for yourself. You can buy the framed canvas board here. You can also buy an almost identical version on paper here, and then it is also part of my Food for the Soul reflection postcards set here.
