Mindful Plover

This painting was created for a local project. In 2021, Waders Walk was created on the promenade in Hoylake. An outdoor art exhibition inspired by the birds we see on our coastline. I volunteered to be a part of it in 2022. At the time, I was doing a lot of mindful art, drawing different patterns, both by myself and teaching other people. I decided to draw a Ringed Plover, as it lent itself to being filled with patterns, and possibly still be recognisable. I called it ‘The Mindful Plover’. After a bit of experimentation, I created a small version on canvas board which you can buy here. Then it was time to create the outdoor version. The project leaders provided me with the board which had already been primed with three coats of paint. Once I had finished, they then added three coats of varnish. Waders Walk continues to be added to over the years by different artists, and is well worth a look if you’re in the area.
