On my desk this month …

Last month I shared that I was creating a larger finger labyrinth, which I have now completed. Here’s a link to the YouTube video of its creation. Finishing the finger labyrinth and painting lots of wooden shapes for a new session for young families have been my main creative projects this month, however I have managed to find time for a little creative play (and planning) as well. The result of which is these three small fun pieces that really are all about play and having fun.

The first (far left) was some preparation for a workshop I was facilitating locally. The plan for the workshop was to create an abstract mixed media piece, and overlay that with words of affirmation or intention for the season ahead. There was also the option of cutting the piece up, which I did in my example.

The second image (centre) is a little bit of fun. A friend donated some mountboard to me, including some already cut that weren’t really useable due to marks on them. I thought I’d try painting them, and then create something fun to go inside the frame. This is my first attempt. I’m tempted to add more to the frame, but I’m going to try that idea on my next one.

The last picture (far right) is of my sketchbook. I followed a YouTube session online one evening, following Sarah Gray as she created ideas for abstract paintings. I’m learning it’s all about just having the confidence to have a go and play, not worrying (or thinking) too much about what the outcome will be. Some will be great, others less so. It’s all about the joy of creativity.
