Hands that flung stars into space

Bible journal page of psalm 8. Background is blue, a light skinned hand comes in from the top left hand corner towards a yellow star which surrounds verses 3 and 4 of Psalm 8 (which are highlighted by being kept white).

“Hands that flung stars into space” is a lyric from the song “The Servant King” by Graham Kendrick. It came to mind when I was creating this bible journal page back on retreat in 2018. I had been praying with Psalm 8, and verses 3 and 4 stood out to me so I decided to create this page in my bible journal. I focused on the idea that God created the world, the moon and the stars, but also cares for each one of us. I love to look up at the stars on a clear night, and it never fails to remind me of how big and amazing God is.

I created this page by first drawing the star and the hand. I then blended a blue distress ink for the background. Watercolour paint was used to add the colour for the star and the hand, along with the small stars (dots) in the background.
