Anointing Oil
I wish I could remember the theme I had chosen for the art group session in which I created this piece. I really don’t know what inspired it, and have only a vague sense of what it meant at the time. As you can see, it is a teardrop - a symbol I use often to resemble pain - which is being covered with oil. This anointing oil is from God, and it almost covers and surrounds the teardrop. It is an image of comfort and reassurance to me, but why I painted it I really don’t remember. (I now try to write on the back of pieces like this as a reminder!)
It might seem strange for me to share a picture that I don’t remember much about, but there is something about it that makes me hold onto it and ponder the meaning. And so now I share it with you so you can ponder the meaning too.
