Jumping in the Deep End

An open ringbound journal, with the words 'Learn to swim before you jump in the deep end' written in wave shapes across the page. Various colours of blue used.

I created this page in my art journal when I was considering a new direction in my ministry. I was full of ideas and enthusiasm, but recognised that there was a lot I needed to learn. I think this phrase popped into my head one day, and so I created the page as a reminder to myself.

At this point in my creative journey, I was mainly using my card making techniques in my journal, rather than using typical art mediums. This page was created by blending different blue distress inks on the page, and then applying a sparkle medium to the wavy lines above and below each of the words to add a little interest.

Some time after the page was created, I did indeed spend three years completing the CMS Pioneer Leadership course - not learning how to swim, but learning all about pioneer ministry, before jumping in the deep end and moving north to start the adventure I’m currently on!
