Lost in Love
I created this painting whilst on a prophetic art retreat. We had the afternoon to ourselves, and I decided to take a walk (up a hill). As I was wandering around, I was praying about how God’s love is like an ocean. It’s wide, it’s deep, and it’s more than I can imagine. As my thoughts came together in prayer, so did the desire to paint. I walked quickly back down the hill, walked straight into the painting room and got started. People were surprised to see me back so quick - they thought I was going for a walk!
Most of the time when we think about being lost, it’s a negative. But here, in the context of God’s love it is a positive. The words ‘lost’ ‘in’ and ‘love’ were cut out of an old bible, and stuck onto the painting. They are very small, compared to the waves, and it is easy to not see them. They represent how small we are compared to God’s love. We can feel lost in God’s love because it is so big, so vast, and overwhelming at times. It is wonderful to feel lost in God’s love, to feel deeply loved, to feel like nothing else matters in that moment. I expect that’s what I felt, and why I came back down the hill to paint, to express something of the love of God I knew.
